King and queen mate - king in the center

This lesson is also about the queen and king checkmate. It is a bit harder, for now the black king is in the middle of the board.

A king and queen cannot checkmate a king in the middle of the board. So you need to get the king to one of the edges first.

Look at the example.

The black king is in the center of the board. Drive him to the edge of the board with your queen. Then edge him in as before: while the queen keeps the king trapped, your own king walks up to help checkmate.
